Youth Work at Cross-Links

Becky Meredith is our Youth Worker; she is supported by Ben (sessional youth worker) and a number of volunteers.

Becky fulfils the role of Leader-in-Charge at all our regular activities.  We are currently working closely with the District Youth Hub team to support young people in Buckland.  This includes hosting a Monday evening youth session which is run by Pie Factory Music.

Regular Activities for Young People aged 11- 19 years (23 years if disabled) include:

Youthy Club is a free youth club that takes place from 7-9pm at Cross-Links on a Wednesday evening throughout the year and at the Buckland Community Centre on a Thursday evening.  Clubs are funded by Cross-Links, Buckland Residents’ Association, Dover Town Councillors (grant) and Kent County Councillors (grant).   Access to sexual health advice and the Get-it (free condoms) scheme is available at all youth sessions.

Advice and Support is available on request, we can help with all sorts of things including college or school work - just ask!

During school holidays these clubs normally continue subject to staffing availability.  We often run additional activities during the daytime - these are advertised in our monthly newsletter.

We often incorporate projects into our regular club work; over the past year or so these have included: Buckland Mural (on display in the Cross-Links window), ‘under the sea’ mural in the toilet (on-going) and a summer photography project.

Cross-Links Dover on Facebook

Young people aged 13 years and over may join our Cross-Links Youth facebook group.  This is a closed facebook group

administered by Nigel and Becky – please ask us if you’d like to join.  Parents and Volunteers may also join the group which acts as a forum for our young people and their friends.

Please do not be offended but Staff are not permitted to be ‘friends’ on facebook with young people who attend our activities.

There is also a Cross-Links Dover facebook page which is open to any facebook use to ‘like’ this

will then enable them to keep up to date with the latest news and activities.

Cross-Links Dover complies with Church of England Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.  Canterbury Diocese of the Church of England is the umbrella body for DBS Disclosures.

We routinely take photographs at our activities for the purpose of promoting our activities and managing performance.  Please let a member of staff know if you do not wish us to take photographs of you/your child/children.  Click here for our Photography during Activities Policy.

Expect, Respect…

Jesus once said, “treat others the way you would want them to treat you.”  This sums up our Code of Behaviour - for more details click here.
